Professional Regulation

Since the necessary changes in professional standards required by regulation 2010-11, the BIH continuously monitors new applicants wishing to join as practitioner members.  Both new and existing members agree to uphold these standards through the BIH Code of Ethics.  This includes being registered with the ICO under Data Protection Laws, achieving the minimum annual CPD (15 hours), and holding adequate and current insurances that cover working with clients. In addition, they also agree to maintain a professional 'fitness' both physically, emotionally and psychologically, to practise ethically with members of the public they serve.

The professional standards set by the profession (2010-11) and updated (2017) are also those agreed by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) the current Regulator for CAM disciplines.
